The Power of Mortality™ is not about death. It's about life! Accepting your mortality isn't about giving in to death - it is about truly living your life on purpose.
Today we're continuing our look at practical steps for tapping into the Power of Mortality™ and living it on a daily basis. (If you need to catch up, you can do so here.)
As I've mentioned before, one of the reasons for our fear of death is that it represents a loss of control and a great deal of uncertainty. Therefore, today I am going to suggest that you try to take some very practical steps to remove some uncertainty and take back control. Today's message can be summed up in three words: "Do the Paperwork!"
Life insurance and your last will & testament. Most of us will do just about anything to avoid having to think about those particular pieces of paperwork. We keep stalling and putting it off. Many people don't even consider life insurance until they are in their 40's or 50's. And according to one survey that I read, over 60% of Americans die without a basic will.
They may be uncomfortable topics to think about, but you will feel much more comfortable once those two items are crossed off you "to-do" list. Securing life insurance gives you some control over the financial stability of your loved ones and preparing a will allows you to be certain that your wishes will be carried out when it comes to distributing your personal property.
As I said two weeks ago, when it comes to thinking about death, the trick is to focus on the things you can control, rather than the things that are beyond your control.
We'll continue the process next week.
