Thinking About Thoughts
In my Mortality Manifesto, I tell you to make sure that your every thought, word and action is moving you in the direction of your dreams.
Now everyone knows that in order to achieve their dreams, they need to take the correct actions. Some people know that their words will influence their actions, so they have little trouble agreeing that their words are important factors in success. But what about your thoughts?
We've all heard of "positive thinking" and no one really sets out to live a life filled with negative thoughts - but how much power do we really think our thoughts have?
What about you? Do you think your thoughts have the power to affect real and immediate change? I'm not just talking about a change in attitudes either. Would you believe me if I told you that thoughts can have an immediate impact on the physical world?
Let's try something...
Print this out and read the next section to a friend.
Ask them to close their eyes and then read the following:
"I want you to relax and take a deep breath. Now think about a lemon. Imagine that you are holding a lemon in your right hand. (Encourage them to actually "hold" an imaginary lemon in their right hand.) Feel the weight of the lemon. Feel the texture of the lemon's rind. Notice the shape of the lemon as you turn it around in your hand. Now imagine that you have a knife and are cutting the lemon in half. Feel the sensation as the knife slices through the rind and then through the fleshy insides of the lemon. Visualize the juice spraying out and running down the knife. Smell the powerful scent of lemon juice as it fills the air. Now take one half of the lemon and put it up to your nose. Inhale the aroma deeply and let it sink into your brain. Then, open your mouth wide and take a HUGE bite of the lemon, letting your teeth sink deep into the fleshy center of the juicy lemon."
Now ask the other person if their mouth is watering.
Thoughts really DO have incredible power, don't they?
ENJOY NOW!
