My wife is much better at barbecuing than I am. There, I've said it. I hope that you realize how difficult it is for a man to admit such a shortcoming. But it's absolutely true - I would rather eat food that was grilled by my wife than food that was grilled by me.
Admitting the problem is the first step, right?
Now, I know what my problem is. When I barbecue, I crank the burners up as high as they will go, throw the food on and just pray that I get my timing right. I've been doing this in the name of saving time. Unfortunately, when you are cooking with gas and have the burners on full-blast, a minute or two can make a huge difference in the final result. More often than not - my food gets burned.
This past week, I realized that this is exactly how I've been living my life lately. I've just "cranked up the burners" of daily activity, thrown all of my responsibilities and commitments on "the grill", and hoped that I got my timing right. But, like my barbecuing, I am often left with a "burnt-out" feeling.
So as of right now, I am going to lower the heat (on both my food and my life) and allow things to cook slowly. I trust that this will keep my life, and my food, nice and juicy and allow me to savour everything in its own sweet time.
Now where's my "Kiss the Cook" apron?
ENJOY NOW!
