MINDFUL MOMENT
2006 03 12 - Your Incredible Body

So how are you feeling today?

Just "OK"?
Just "Fine"?
Only "Not bad"?

That's FANTASTIC! Let me explain.

Last month, I went to see an awe-inspiring exhibit called "Body Worlds", which was at the Ontario Science Center.

It is described as "The Anatomical Exhibition of Real Human Bodies" and was easily the most though-provoking thing I've seen in years. The exhibit consisted of a large number of real human bodies that have been carefully preserved using a unique process. But unlike a typical anatomy exhibit - these bodies are not simply lying around. They are striking full action poses like kicking a soccer ball, doing yoga, riding horseback and even ski jumping. (You can visit their site here.)

For me, this exhibit highlighted the incredible design of the human body and the delicate and fragile balance between all of our systems. When you have an opportunity to look at the bones, muscles, tendons, connective tissues, organs, blood vessels, brain, spinal chord and nerves - it is absolutely mind-boggling. The fantastic amount of coordination that goes into something as simple as drinking a cup of coffee is nothing short of staggering.

So if you are feeling "OK", "Fine" or "Not bad" - that's FANTASTIC! Take a moment and give thanks that everything is working so well!

If you have some aches or pains - take a moment and give thanks that they are only aches and pains.

And finally, if you are coping with a condition or disease - take a moment and give thanks that you are still here!

Most importantly...

ENJOY NOW!
