Recently, my wife surprised me with an evening
out. (Thanks again hun!) She had tickets to "An
Evening With Colin and Brad". Colin Mochrie and
Brad Sherwood are two outstanding improvisational
comedians. Colin was a regular on the North
American version of the TV program "Whose Line Is It
Anyway?" and if you've ever seen the show you can
imagine what a fantastic time was had by me, my wife
and 4,998 other people at the live performance.
If you haven't seen "Whose Line Is It
Anyway?" -
or any other improv comedy - the performers ask for
input from the audience and instantly incorporate it
into their act. It was amazing to see these two
professionals take some truly ridiculous and zany
situations that were proposed by the audience and
weave them into the funniest two hours that I've
seen in years!
But isn't that how life works for all of us? We
are constantly handed situations that could be
considered ridiculous and zany and yet we have to
make sense of it and keep on going.
Now imagine watching an improv comedy show where
one of the performers insists on working from a
prepared script, rather than using the input from the
audience. That wouldn't make any sense, would it?
And yet, isn't that what some of us do? Rather
than living in the present and dealing with what is
being given to us on a daily basis, many people seem
to be living from a script that was written in the
past. For these people, everything that
happens is somehow tied to past problems or old
emotional wounds.
While the present moment can bring challenges and
difficulties, it can also bring incredible
opportunities and possibilities. If you are working
from an old script and not living in the present
moment you just might be missing out on the best
show of your life!
ENJOY NOW!

I think the challenge is going out
in front of a paying audience with absolutely
nothing and trying to entertain them for two hours,
... Thankfully, I only think about that right before
we go on, and then once we're out there,
everything's fine.
