What gets you up early in the morning and keeps
you up late at night?
If you answered "debts", "bills", "fear" or
"dread", then you either haven't discovered your TRUE dreams or you are living someone
else's dreams.
You see, when you are following your TRUE
dreams, the excitement can often drive you to get up
early and stay up late. Also, when you are
following your TRUE dreams, things like "fear" melt away. As we begin this new year, let's
take a moment to check in with our motivations to
ensure that they are really ours and that we aren't
selling ourselves short in the "dream department".
I've met so many people who are working day and
night to help fulfill someone else's dreams, goals
and objectives. It may be their parents', spouse's,
or manager's. Although we all have to get along
with others, and it may be necessary for your career
to follow someone else's directions - we need to be
sure that we aren't compromising our integrity in
the process.
I've also met many people who are completely
responsible for setting the direction of their
dreams, but are not living out their TRUE dreams.
These are the people who (if they're lucky) have an "ah-ha!" moment when they realize that they really
should be doing something else with their life.
Something that they once told themselves was
impossible, impractical or just a silly fantasy.
Einstein was a patent clerk. What if he had simply
stayed in his place and never had that "ah-ha!" moment?
So how can we tell if we are following our
TRUE dreams? Take the "Why"
and "How
Much" tests. The answers may surprise you.
The next time you are up until the wee hours of
the morning, I don't want you to be pacing with fear
and gloom - I want you to be dancing with excitement
and anticipation!
ENJOY NOW!
