I once had someone tell me that my message of "embracing your mortality" is fatalistic. He said that I am fixated on death. I have no idea where
he got that impression.
- Sure, I have a tattoo on my shoulder of the
day that I am supposed to die.
- And yes, I try to live my life according to
something called the Mortality
Manifesto.
- And OK, so I've written a book called "What's
Your Expiry Date?" and I have a workbook called "The
Mortality Manual".
- And so what if I have developed a page-a-day called "Your Expiry Date - 365 Personal Expiry Dates
for Daily Living".
My response is that I am not fatalistic - I am
realistic. Death is a reality for all of us, and to
think otherwise is fooling yourself. Our modern
society has turned death into something that only
happens to other people. If you watch television,
on any given evening, not only are you likely to
witness countless murders, but you are often taken
into the forensics of how the person was murdered.
A quick look at the North American television
ratings for last week indicates that of the top 20
most-watched programs, 7 of them revolve around
murders and deaths. That's incredible! And what is
even more incredible is that even though we are
immersed in deaths, murders, and graphic autopsies,
we are still completely unprepared for the death of
a loved-one or for our own death.
If you're familiar with Charles Dickens' classic
story "A Christmas Carol", you'll recall that
Ebenezer Scrooge doesn't decide to change his ways
until his third ghost brings him face to face with his
own grave.
My role is to act as your own personal "third
ghost". The objective of my career as a
professional speaker, author and coach is to
motivate people to live their lives with balance.
Too often we live our lives as though everything is
a matter of "life or death". I want you to start
living your life as though everything is a matter of
"life AND death" - because it really is!
ENJOY NOW!

Somebody should tell us, right at
the start of our lives, that we are dying. Then we
might live life to the limit, every minute of every
day. Do it! I say. Whatever you want to do, do it
now! There are only so many tomorrows.
