MINDFUL MOMENT
2005 03 27 - Faith

This is Easter weekend, which has me thinking about faith and the role that it plays in our lives.

It doesn't matter if you celebrate Easter or not, the concept of "faith" is common to most people regardless of their particular religion or their degree of spirituality.

So what is faith?

The dictionary offers three definitions, all nouns: loyalty, belief and conviction.

I tend to think that faith is less of a noun and more of a verb. That is, I don't see faith as something you have but rather something you do.

Just like life. It's not about how long you HAVE it, but what you DO with it that counts!

Giving transforms Having into Being.

I can imagine myself as "having" creativity, but only through the giving of my creativity to others can I experience being creative.

I can imagine myself as "having" abundance, but only through the giving of my abundance to others can I experience being abundant.
