Waiting
Who likes waiting? I certainly don't.
We don't like to wait for mundane, day-to-day things such as:
- waiting in a queue at the bank
- waiting for a traffic light to change
- waiting for money that is "in the mail"
And we certainly don't like to wait for bigger things such as:
- waiting for the right person to come along
- waiting for that big promotion
- waiting for things to finally start going your way
In his Special and General Theory of Relativity, Einstein maintained that time is relative to the speed of the observer. I'm sure you've found that when we are actively in the process of "waiting" time appears to go much more slowly. I'm sure you've also heard the phrase, "time flies when you are having fun!" So what's the secret to waiting?
The secret is to take your focus off of that for which you are waiting and instead focus on that which is right in front of you. BE HERE NOW, is a great mantra!
When you think about it logically, you can't be anyplace other than were you are, and you can't "be" at any other time than the present, so staying focused on the here and now only makes sense.
Ah, but you might be asking, "But Patrick, what if there here and now is unpleasant or causing me pain?" I'll answer that with another question: "Will focusing on something you don't yet have be any less unpleasant or painful?"
Think about the last red light at which you were stopped. If you were in a hurry and all you did was watch the light, it probably seemed to take f-o-r-e-v-e-r to change to green. But if you were in the present moment and singing along with a song on your stereo, you probably didn't even notice how long the light took.
It's all a matter of focus. Remain mindful of every moment, focus on the present and you'll get to your future that much sooner!
ENJOY NOW!

Of all the wonderful places you'll go, of all the happy times you'll have, and of all the adventures that now call unto you, each will be enhanced and will more quickly come to pass, with your absolute immersion into today's places, times, and adventures.
