The last few days
of the year offer an excellent time for reflection on the past year's
events.
- What were your
most triumphant moments?
- What were your
most proud moments?
- What did you
to that completely surprised yourself?
- What lessons
did you learn?
- What consistent
actions did you take to move you in the direction of your dreams?
As the year draws
to a close, take some time to review what was in 2004 and to clarify
your intentions for what will be in 2005.
One of my most popular
Mindful Moments of 2004 was a very recent one about how I create my
day. (You can read it again here ). People
really resonated with the idea of taking some time to consciously decide
where they are going on a daily basis and to get away from living their
lives by default.
I strongly suggest
that you take some time for yourself in the next few days. Just sit
quietly somewhere that you won't be disturbed. Once you are relaxed,
take a pen and paper and review 2004.
- Think back to
this time last year - do you remember what you wanted to get out of
2004?
- How does that
compare with what you actually got?
- Now think about
the thoughts, words and actions that brought you the results that
you received in 2004.
- Write out intentions
for 2005. Dream big!
- Now think about
the thoughts, words and actions that you will use to manifest an outstanding
2005!
- AND FINALLY -
write as much as you can about WHY these intentions are going to happen.
Forget about "how" they are going to happen and concentrate
on "why".
Keep all of your
notes and review them regularly throughout the year. This will help
keep you focused.
In the
beginning of any new practice, (forming a new habit, breaking an old
habit) the most challenging part can be sticking with it. If you are
someone who finds that your New Years' Resolutions rarely survive into
February, you might be interested in a new service that I'm offering
called "The Accountability Call".
I'd like to propose
a new ritual! On January 1st of each year, let's agree that we'll make
a small ceremony around taking down the old wall calendar and hanging
the new one. As we take down the old year, I want us to be able to look
at it and know, deep in our hearts, that we have no regrets about the
past year. And as we hang the new calander, I want us to feel, with
absolute certainty, what a fantastic year we are about to create for
ourselves!
HAPPY YOU YEAR!
ENJOY NOW!
