Almost a year and a half ago
I wrote about a lesson that I learned while watching
my son eat his Cheerios. <Read
that issue here> Today, I want to talk about
MY breakfast choices. As a child, there were certain
breakfast cereals that I always wanted. Once in a
while, my parents would give in to my pleadings and
buy a box of the cereal that I wanted. That was
usually Honeycombs.
When we did have Honeycombs, it was a
special treat. And although I tried to make it last,
the box was always finished far too quickly. Then it
was back to the regular cereal.
I remember when I first moved out of the house
to attend university. On my first trip to the grocery
store I had a revelation in the cereal aisle. I was my
own man! I could buy WHATEVER cereal I wanted!
The freedom! The power! The sense of having
finally "arrived". I ate Honeycombs for
breakfast, lunch and dinner for about a solid week!
But then something strange happened. I went
back to the same old cereals that I had eaten while
living at my parents'. And I've continued with that
pattern for many years.
Until today.
Today I realized that I was guilty of not giving
myself what I want. I was falling into the
programmed pattern of previous years. How can we
expect the world to give us what we want, if we
won't even do that for ourselves??
Let me ask that again:
How can we expect the world to give us what we
want, if we won't even do that for ourselves?
So guess what I'm eating for breakfast tomorrow?
ENJOY NOW!

Of all the people, in all
the world, not a single one of them - is more
precious, loving and deserving, than you.
