MINDFUL MOMENT
2004 02 29 - Leap Day

"A leap year is a year in which an extra day in added to the calendar in order to synchronize it with the seasons. Since the tropical year is 365.242190 days long, a leap year must be added roughly once every four years. In a leap year, the extra day (known as a leap day) is added at the end of February, giving it 29 instead of the usual 28 days."
- from Eric Weisstein's "World of Astronomy"

Today is the 29th of February! What did you do with your "extra" day?

Since "leap day" only comes once every four years some consider it a very special day.

Personally, I think that EVERY day is an extra special day because EACH of them comes only ONCE! Take yesterday for example: there will never again be another February 28, 2004. And what about tomorrow? How many chances will you have to experience March 1, 2004?

Just one!

Although today seems like an "extra day", I maintain that each day that we open our eyes in the morning is truly an extra day! After all, where is it written that we are entitled to a certain number of days?

So I urge you to consider the sacredness of each day that you are given - leap day or otherwise - and use it wisely!

ENJOY NOW!
