MINDFUL MOMENT 2004 01 25 - Snowflakes My area received a substantial amount of snow over the past week. As I was shoveling my driveway, I had time to reflect on the nature of snow. One of the first thoughts that I had was: "How can something that looks so light and fluffy when it falls gently and silently from the sky...weigh so much when it's on the on the end of my shovel?" That started me thinking that snowflakes are a lot like the moments in our lives. First, let's look at snow - When considered individually, snowflakes seem relatively inconsequential. However when we stand idly by and let them pile up, it becomes very difficult to move them. Individually, snowflakes are so light that the slightest breeze can scatter them. But you only need to think of the unstoppable power of an avalanche to know what happens if you combine them and move them all in one direction. Moments are very much like that. Considered individually, they seem relatively inconsequential. However if we stand idly by and let the moments turn into hours, days and weeks, it can be very difficult to achieve our goals or plans. Individually, we think nothing of wasting a moment here or there on trivial matters. But if we harness our moments and use each one to our advantage, think of the unstoppable force that we can become! Oh, and there's one final way in which snowflakes remind me of moments: No two are exactly alike. ENJOY NOW! Copyright (c) 2003-2004, all rights reserved. ©MMVII - Patrick Mathieu Unlimited.
