MINDFUL MOMENT 2003 12 21 - Santa is a State of Mind As a child, did you believe in Santa Clause? I believed in him and I remember how I felt when I found out he wasn't real. I felt betrayed and very sad. Betrayed at the fact that my parents (and adults everywhere) had lied to me. Sad that there isn't someone in the world whose sole purpose in life was to give to children. When I found out that there was no Santa, I remember asking my parents how it was that he showed up at the house one Christmas - just to meet me. They explained that my father had rented a suit, pretended to go to the store for milk, and then come to the front door in the suit as Santa. I know my father's intention wasn't to deceive me. He just wanted to do all that he could to make my Christmas brighter. Isn't it comforting to think that there MIGHT be someone whose sole purpose in life is to make people happy for at least one day a year? Someone who gives of their time, resources and energy and all they ask in return is some cookies and milk? My father's actions taught me a valuable lesson, one that I would like to share with all of you. Santa Clause is not about toys and commercialism. Santa Clause is not about a white beard and red suit. No, Santa Clause is about putting others first. Santa Clause is a state of mind - one that we can all achieve if we just think about it. That is my holiday wish for all of you! Find that state of mind and bring happiness to those around you - you'll be amazed at the results. And here's the best part - you can achieve this state of mind DAILY! All the best to you and yours! ENJOY NOW! Copyright (c) 2003-2004, all rights reserved. ©MMVII - Patrick Mathieu Unlimited.
